This website and WinSweep are made by SixCentral. The short version: this website only counts visits anonymously, without cookies, and WinSweep collects nothing about you and never goes online. There are no accounts, no ads, no third-party trackers and no tracking across sites.
This website
This site is plain pages with no cookies, no ads and no third-party scripts, fonts or trackers, apart from one optional exception described below under "Donations". It doesn't store anything in your browser. Nothing about visitors is sold or shared with anyone.
Privacy-first visitor counting. We don't use Google or any other third-party tracker. To see roughly how many people visit and which pages are read, we run our own copy of Umami, an open-source analytics tool, on a server we control, so the numbers never go to anyone else. It is cookie-less and anonymous: it doesn't store your IP address or any personal information, and it can't follow you from one website to another. It just tells us the lights are on, without knowing who you are.
- For each visit it records the page that was opened, the site that sent you here (if any), your browser and operating system, the type and screen size of your device, your language, and an approximate location such as your country. None of this identifies you.
- Your IP address is only used while your visit is being handled, to work out that rough location. It is not stored with the statistics.
- WinSweep contains no analytics.
Separately, as with any website, the server this site is hosted on may keep standard access logs (such as IP address, time and page or file requested) for security and troubleshooting. We do not use them to identify or track visitors. The WinSweep download is served from this site, so downloads appear in those logs too.
The WinSweep page links to VirusTotal so you can check the download yourself. Nothing is loaded from VirusTotal until you click that link, and it has its own privacy policy. The same goes for the links to our other projects: they open those sites, which have their own privacy information.
WinSweep
WinSweep runs on your PC and looks after Windows by running its built-in maintenance tools when you click a button: repairing system files, clearing temporary files, emptying the Recycle Bin, checking your drive and tuning up an SSD.
- WinSweep makes no network connections of its own. It doesn't check for updates and it doesn't send anything anywhere. The only web address in it is the "SixCentral" link in its window, which opens in your browser only if you click it.
- It doesn't save settings, logs or anything else about you on your PC, and it never touches your network settings.
- Clearing temporary files and emptying the Recycle Bin remove files from your own PC, which is what those buttons are for. Nothing is uploaded or copied anywhere.
- It asks for Administrator permission when you open it, because Windows requires that for this kind of work.
- The repair button runs Windows' own DISM tool, and while it works Windows itself may fetch replacement system files from Microsoft's Windows Update. That is Windows, not WinSweep, and Microsoft's privacy statement applies to it.
Donations
WinSweep is free. On its page there is an optional "Buy me a coffee" button that lets you leave a tip through Ko-fi.
- Nothing from Ko-fi is loaded when you simply visit this site. Only when you click the button does a window open that shows Ko-fi's donation form, and your browser then connects to Ko-fi (including your IP address), as when you visit their site.
- Closing the window removes the form again. Payments are handled by Ko-fi and its payment provider, never by this website, and we do not see your payment details.
- Ko-fi has its own privacy policy that applies from the moment the window opens. If you prefer, the button also works as a normal link that opens Ko-fi in a new tab.
Changes and contact
The Contact link in the footer just opens your own email app with a message to us (mail@sixcentral.net). Nothing is sent until you send it yourself, and if you do, we use your message and email address only to reply to you.
If this policy changes, the new version will appear on this page with a new date.
